Nos fanfares, harmonies et brass bands ne seraient rien sans leurs anciens. Au printemps, une Fête est mise sur pied à leur intention. C'est l'occasion de leur rendre hommage, en décorant les musiciennes et musiciens ayant comptabilisés de nombreuses années de sociétariat:
- 20 ans - membre d'honneur SCMV (pour vingt années au sein d'une ou plusieurs sociétés affiliées à la SCMV)
- 25 ans - vétéran cantonal
- 35 ans - vétéran fédéral (médaille de l'ASM)
- 50 ans - distinction cantonale
- 60 ans - médaille du mérite de la Confédération Internationale des Sociétés Musicales (Vétéran CISM)
- 65 ans - distinction cantonale
- 70 ans - vétéran fédéral 70 ans (ASM)
- 75 ou 80 ans - distinctions cantonales
Les présidents des sociétés annoncent leurs jubilaires au responsable des vétérans de la SCMV pour le 31 décembre, afin que les médailles puissent être distribuées lors de la fête des jubilaires.
